We got the song off of You tube and converted it into an mp3 so that we could put the song onto Final Cut Pro. We will only be using this song for educational purposes only, but if our video was to be published we would have to pay for the right to use the song, plus get their permission to use the music. This could mean that we might need to contact more than one organisation to get permission depending on how we want to use the song; a good place to start is the last known music publisher. Because the music that we are using is already recorded and our video was published we could be covered by a PPL licence. This is a company that licenses recorded music played in public or broadcast on the radio or TV and then distributes the licence fees to its performer and record company members. “Merry Christmas Everyone” is a festive song by British songwriter/ singer “Shakin Stevens”. The song was written by Bob Heatilie and produced by Dave Edmunds. We also downloaded a video of an overlay of falling snow so we could layer it over certain parts within our video. To download this video we used KeepVid.
Copyright is a legal right created by the law of a country that grants the creator of an original work exclusive rights for its use and distribution. This is usually only for a limited time. The exclusive rights are not absolute but limited by limitations and exceptions to copyright law, including fair use. A major limitation on copyright is that copyright protects only the original expression of ideas, and not the underlying ideas themselves.
DEFINITION

In our video a few logos are featured within it. The most frequent logo that shown is the school logo, however because we have had permission to film on their premises and to film with their students it doesn’t matter to the fact that it is shown so much. Clothing logos do appear in this video as we have asked the children to wear their own coats, but because the children are acting sensible and not doing anything bad or offensive the clothing company’s shouldn’t have a problem with this.

At the start of the project Lillie and I wrote and sent out consent forms to the parents of the children to have permission for them to be filmed for educational purposes. When the video was finished being edited we had to export the video and put it onto You Tube for it to then be put onto our website, however when it was put on Youtube, I made sure that the account was and is still on private so that no one else can view the video but us.
